YES, IT WAS FILMED IN VANCOUVER

Vancouver, aka “Hollywood of the North", has been the backdrop for many tv productions and feature films throughout the years. Many guests have had their own star sightings in our area. As a matter of fact, Ryan Reynolds grew up in Vancouver, in the heart of Kitsilano.

ORIGINS OF THE CALIFORNIA ROLL

In the 1970's, Chef Hidekazu Tojo invented this classic California sushi roll. For the ultimate experience, try the "Omakase" menu (“Chef, I’m in your hands”). However, if that's a little too adventurous, there are other menu options too. On your next Vancouver visit, try Tojo's at 1133 West Broadway Street.

STANLEY PARK IS BIGGER

Our beautiful Stanley Park covers 1001 acres, which makes it 10% larger than Central Park in New York City. And the grey squirrels aren’t a native species. In 1909, New York City gifted Vancouver with eight pairs, and all those scampering around the park are their descendants.

POOL WITH AN OCEAN VIEW

Vancouver is home to the longest outdoor saltwater pool in North America. The Kitsilano Pool, which opened in 1931, is approximately three times the length of an Olympic pool. Without a doubt, an afternoon at this pool, is a summertime favorite in Vancouver.

THE PEAK OF VANCOUVER

One of local ski hills, Grouse Mountain, almost got renamed as "Mt Vancouver". But, the proposed name change did not go through as planned. However, they liked the slogan. And from then onwards, it has also been called “The Peak of Vancouver”.
